Richard Volpe

Attorney

Richard Volpe is an experienced Chicago attorney with over four decades in the field. After earning his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1980, he began his career as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, handling police and fire liability defense. He later served as Senior Trial Counsel for Fireman’s Fund Insurance, defending municipalities in jury trials and at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.

In 1995, Richard co-founded Grazian and Volpe, PC, where he represents individuals injured due to occupational hazards or negligence, focusing on police, firefighters, and union railroad workers (under FELA).

Richard’s defense background provided valuable insight into insurance companies, leading him to exclusively represent injured individuals. One of his jury trial verdicts was featured on the front page of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

About Richard Volpe

In his own words

“A lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite on society. A social engineer is a highly skilled, perceptive, sensitive lawyer who understands the Constitution of the United States and knows how to explore its uses in the solving of problems of local communities and in bettering conditions of the underprivileged citizens.” – Charles Hamilton Houston

I have found that the key to having a career rooted in serving others and the community is ultimately dependent on one’s ability to connect with people. I take pride in being able to help individuals seeking assistance with probably the most difficult situations they have ever had to encounter. The practice of law can and should serve as a tool for creating equality in society.
